Real Oklahoma CDL requirements
The knowledge tested here is federal (FMCSA) and identical nationwide -- what varies by state is who administers it and under what terms. Researched directly from Service Oklahoma, in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS)'s own site, verified 2026-09-03.

Class A: $81.50 (4-year) or $138.00 (8-year); Class B: $71.50 (4-year) or $128.00 (8-year); Class C: $61.50 (4-year) or $108.00 (8-year)
Minimum CLP hold before road test
14 full days — official page: 'You must hold this permit for 14 full days before taking the drive test. You can take the skills test on the 15th day after holding your permit.'
CLP validity
180 days, renewable one time for an additional 180 days (max ~360 days total) — reported by secondary aggregator citing 47 O.S. §47-6-101; not independently confirmed via direct fetch of an official page with that figure
Retake wait after a failed knowledge test
First three attempts may be retaken at least 1 day apart (or as instructed by the examiner); fourth attempt onward requires at least a 30-day wait between tests. Spanish-language knowledge test
English only
Confirmed by official Service Oklahoma FAQ: 'At this time, the written test is only available in English.' No 2025/2026 policy change was found for Oklahoma specifically — the written test already appears to have been English-only, unlike Texas's active June 1, 2026 discontinuation of a previously-offered Spanish test. Separate from the federal FMCSA English Language Proficiency roadside enforcement now in effect nationally.
- Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from an FMCSA Training Provider Registry-listed provider is required before testing.
- Oklahoma offers a restricted farm CDL, valid 180 days per year, limited to Class B commercial motor vehicles, generally for use within about 150 miles of the farm; a registered farm vehicle operated for farm purposes may not require a CDL at all under the federal 'covered farm vehicle' exemption.
- A 'K' restriction code is added to a CDL/CLP for drivers certifying as intrastate-only.
